Carrollwood Day falls in state title game

The remarkable run is over. In its first-ever state appearance, the Carrollwood Day School girls basketball team fell just shy in claiming a 3A state championship, losing to Tallahassee FAMU Developmental Research School 46 to 37 on Feb. 23 at the Lakeland Center. Sunlake falls short of state title bid

They were just one win shy from reaching the Class 7A state tournament. Academy falls short in state final

The Baby Rattlers’ full-court pressure proved to be problematic for the Academy early on, as the Wildcats faced a 20-6 deficit after the first quarter. “In the … [Read more...]

Imani Thomas scores 1,000 points

When it comes to scoring points, Academy at the Lakes’ Imani Thomas is in rare company. The Wildcats’ junior post player became the fifth player in school history to surpass the career 1,000-point mark when she scored 17 points in a 79-45 victory over Cornerstone Orlando on Dec. 2. “It was great,” said Thomas who is coached by Karim Nohra. “When I got to 1,000 points, coach called a … [Read more...]
