Lucas Brown, a senior and varsity baseball player at Bishop McLaughlin High School is collecting new or gently used baseball and softball equipment for Roberto’s Kids, a nonprofit organization in honor of Roberto Clemente, former Pittsburgh Pirates baseball player, who died en route to delivering earthquake relief supplies to Nicaragua in 1972.
The organization helps provide equipment to thousands of children across the country.
Equipment that can be donated includes gloves, bats, balls, catcher’s equipment, bases, batting helmets, cleats, sneakers, uniforms, hats and socks.
Collection dates will be Aug. 29 and Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Bishop McLaughlin High School baseball fields, 13651 Hays Road in Spring Hill.
