The Connector Club will host a PINKnik Health & Wellness Festival on Oct. 15 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Land O’ Lakes Heritage Park, 5401 Land O’ Lakes Blvd., to promote breast cancer, domestic violence and mental health awareness. The event will include a community picnic (guests are encouraged to dress in pink or purple to show their support), health and wellness panels, self-defense demonstrations, live entertainment, information booths, and more. Charitable giving
The offices of Pasco Tax Collector Mike Fasano will feature Premier Community HealthCare’s efforts to expand health services to those in need as the featured charitable organization for the month of September. All proceeds from the promotional effort will benefit Premier, which is the primary nonprofit agency to provide health care to the uninsured and under-insured in Pasco County.
“Premier Community HealthCare has a long history of providing medical care for those without access to primary health care in Pasco County,” said Fasano in a news release. “…Our hope is to raise funds which will help Premier Community HealthCare move closer to their goal to provide these services to even more individuals and families in need,” said Fasano.

Hospice Heroes Breakfast
Gulfside Hospice will host its inaugural Hospice Heroes Breakfast Benefit on Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Plantation Palms Golf Club in Land O’ Lakes, hosted by the Women for Gulfside, to honor Gulfside staff and volunteers. Tables may be purchased to honor a specific Hospice Hero (Gulfside staff member or volunteer) who took care of a loved one. Recognized heroes will receive a dove pin and commemorative certificate signed by Linda Ward, Gulfside president and CEO.
All proceeds raised will be used to provide patient care and bereavement services for Gulfside patients and families. Individual tickets are $35; tables are $350. Pelvic floor dysfunction
HCA Florida Trinity Hospital, 9330 State Road 54 in Trinity, will present a lecture on Oct. 4 at noon entitled, “Do You Leak When You Sneeze?” Luciana Schlatter, pelvic floor certified therapist, will discuss issues caused by the pelvic floor (muscles that support the bladder and bowels), including urinary frequency, urinary leakage, bowel incontinence, constipation, painful intercourse, pelvic pain and/or pelvic organ prolapse. The 2023 F.R.I.E.N.D.S Buddy Walk is scheduled for Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Al Lopez Park, 4802 N. Himes Ave., in Tampa. Cost is $20 to walk. F.R.I.E.N.D.S is a Tampa-based nonprofit organization that provides vital special needs information, education and resources to those people with Down Syndrome and other disabilities and their families. Crisis Center fundraiser
Shred360 will provide paper shredding services in the Tampa Bay area on May 12 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd., in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month. Residents can bring up to three boxes (copy paper box size or smaller) or bags (kitchen trash bag size or smaller) per vehicle. Clips, rubber bands, wire folders, CDs and DVDs do not have to be removed.
Monetary donations will be accepted during the event and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, to help fund its programs and services.

Lunch and Learn
HCA Florida Trinity Hospital will host a Lunch and Learn on April 27 at noon, on the topic of belly pain, heartburn, lumps and bumps.
The guest speaker will be Dr. Robert Perez, general surgeon. Topics will include heartburn, chest or abdominal pain, acid reflux, difficulty swallowing, fever or chills, nausea or vomiting, and when to head to the emergency room or make a doctor appointment. Participants can learn more about these signs and symptoms and how they can sometimes be connected with conditions such as hernias, gallbladder disease and/or lipomas (fatty tumors under the skin).
