U.S. Army Cpl. Jess Murphree and his wife Ashlee will receive a new mortgage-free home on Sept. 12 at 10 a.m., at 4908 Lago Vista Circle in Land O’ Lakes. The house is provided by Building Homes for Heroes. Murphree suffered a traumatic brain injury, has been diagnosed with PTSD and has nerve damage to his right arm. A Russian anti-tank mine blew up his vehicle in Afghanistan. Murphree was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and several other awards and honors. Join in the celebration with military personnel, state and local dignitaries, members of the construction team, community members, corporate sponsors, members of civic organizations, family members and friends, local police officers and firefighters.
