The Tampa Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will meet on Sept. 17 at 11:30 a.m., at Grille 116, 612 N. Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa. There will be a brief social followed by a business meeting. After the meeting, there will be a planned lunch for $16 per plate. The Bob Sierra North Tampa YMCA, 4015 Ragg Road, will host a LEED Recognition Ceremony and Open House on Sept. 17. The LEED Gold Certification ceremony will be at 10 a.m., followed by a National Gymnastics Day Open House from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests can tour the 12,000-square-foot gymnastics center and try out the equipment. The Land O’ Lakes Library, 2818 Collier Parkway, will offer two “Sewing Basics 101” classes on Sept. 17: from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., for ages 9 and older. Participants can learn the parts of the sewing machine, threading the needle and bobbin, sewing lines and curves, and different spacing. A signed liability waiver is required. The 2016 Odessa Pow Wow will take place on Sept. 16, Sept. 17 and Sept. 18, in front of the Gunn Highway Flea Market, 2317 Gunn Highway in Odessa. Gates open at 10 a.m., each day. There will be storytelling, drumming, dancing, a Miss Ambassador contest, trade blankets, 50/50 raffles and more. Admission is $4 per person, $8 per family or car load (limit five per car).
