Free hearing aid batteries
Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation will host a free hearing aid battery giveaway on Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at its New Port Richey office, 4443 Rowan Road. The most common sizes offered will be 10, 13, 312 and 675, while supplies last. Sertoma also will collect hearing aids in any condition to provide recycled and refurbished hearing aids to clients who need them.
Alzheimer’s movie screening

Suicide Prevention Day event
The Tampa Bay Suicide Prevention Task Force and the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay will present a special event in observance of World Suicide Prevention Day on Sept. 10 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., in Tampa. The theme will be “Family Coping with Suicide and Mental Health.”
The event will include interactive displays on techniques for coping and building resiliency; demonstrations of self-care and relaxation techniques’ a performance by Synchrony Dance Company; a candlelight vigil; and, keynote speaker Brent Kraus, co-founder of Ella Bing Bow Ties.
