Congregation Kol Ami, 3919 Moran Road, will have an open house on Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests can meet Rabbi Bob, Cantor Beth, the religious school teachers and committee representatives, visit the new youth lounge, see the new Kol Ami Kids’ Korner, sign up for a youth group, have hot dogs and watermelon, and support the teens by having their car washed. 08/27/2016 – Gecko Ball

The Gulfport Casino Ballroom, 5500 Shore Blvd., S, in Gulfport, will host the “20,000 Geckos Under the Sea Gecko Ball” on Aug. 27 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. There will be live music, dancing, catered cuisine, a costume contest, live and silent auctions, and a gecko queen coronation. Tickets are $35 each and are available at the Gulfport Welcome Center, Gulfport Beach Bazaar, or online at VisitGulfportFlorida.com.

The Land O’ Lakes Library, 2818 Collier Parkway, will host string art for preteens on Aug. 27 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., for ages 9 to 15. Participants can design their own art. Registration and a completed liability waiver are required. For information, call (813) 929-1214.

The Rotary Club of Zephyrhills will present “SummerJam 2016” on Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Skydive City, 4241 Sky Dive Lane in Zephyrhills. There will be games and activities, skydivers, food and drinks, water slides, face painting and more. Parking is $10. All proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club and the Thomas Promise Foundation. Knights of Columbus San Antonio Council 1768 will host a chicken pilau dinner on Aug. 27 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Knights Hall, 11549 Curley Road in San Antonio.
