The Hugh Embry Library, 14215 Fourth St., in Dade City, will have a book bazaar on July 8 and July 9 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be a variety of puzzles, books, audio and video media, magazines, and related materials, many for less than $3. For information, call (352) 567-3576

The Land O’ Lakes Library, 2818 Collier Parkway, will host a wine cork crafting session on July 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., for ages 16 and older. A signed liability waiver is required, and a dress code must be followed for safety. For information and to register, call (813) 929-1214.

New River Library

  • Anime Club: July 7 at 6:30 p.m., for grades six and above
  • Lego Club: July 9 at 11 a.m., for kindergarten through eighth grade
  • Trivia: July 9 at 1 p.m., for grades four to seven

American Legion meetings

American Legion Post 15, 37745 Church Ave., in Dade City, will meet the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m. Every Wednesday is Music Jam night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is a variety of music every Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and karaoke every Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is no cover charge and adult beverages are available. The Land O’ Lakes Library, 2818 Collier Parkway, will host the Social Seniors group on July 7 from 10 a.m. to noon, for ages 55 and older. There will be coffee, cake and conversation, and participants can make programming suggestions, discuss common interests, and engage in recreational activities. Help stuff the bus

Volunteers are needed for the sixth annual “Stuff the Bus for Teachers” on July 29, July 30 and July 31. School supply drive

Gulfside Hospice thrift shops and the Kiwanis Club of Greater West Pasco are partnering for the annual Back to School Supply Drive now through July 26. Items collected will be donated to students in need at Pasco County elementary schools at the start of the school year. Last year, 250 supply filled backpacks were donated to eight Pasco County schools and Healthy Families.

Anyone who donates new school supplies at any of Gulfside’s thrift shops will receive a voucher for 25 percent off a single item in the store.

Items needed include backpacks, colored pencils, crayons, erasers, folders, glue sticks, markers, notebooks, paper, pencil cases, pens, scissors and yellow pencils.

Residents in Timber Lake Estates are proud of their park and are continually making home improvements. Batzel received a certificate and a flag, and is eligible for Home of the Year. Local cardiologist goes to Capitol Hill
Local cardiologist Dr. Rao Musunuru attended the Joint Meeting of the United States Congress at Capitol Hill in Washington D.C., in June. The Honorable Narendra Modi, prime minister of the Republic of India, gave an address in an attempt to further enhance the trade and various other relations between the countries. Hospital receives women’s choice award
Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel received the 2016 Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s Best Hospitals in Obstetrics. The evidence-based designation reflects exceptional clinical performance and women’s preferences.

The Women’s Choice Award identifies the best hospitals nationwide that are women-friendly and align with women’s health care needs and preferences.

The America’s Best Hospitals in Obstetrics designation identifies the country’s best health care institutions based on criteria that consider patient satisfaction, patient recommendation rating and what women say they want from a hospital.

Star volunteers recognized
Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point recognized its first quarter Star Award winners.

  • Bruce McQueen, Five Star Award, has volunteered for eight years and has accumulated 1,900 hours of service as a courier.
  • Louise Ottaviano, Five Star, has volunteered since 2002 and has more than 12 years and 9,000 hours of service as a courier.
  • Moe Vasquez, Five Star, has volunteered for three years and has accumulated more than 900 hours of service as a courier.
  • Liz Smith, One Star, has volunteered for nine years at Welcome Station A and has more than 1,800 hours of service.

LifeLink welcomes new board members
LifeLink Foundation, a nonprofit community service organization dedicated to the recovery of organs and tissue for transplantation therapy, welcomed new members to its Board of Governors.

  • Brandi Quinn is senior vice president of Enterprise Reporting with Pinellas County and has held multiple positions within the company since joining them in 2003.
  • Dr. William H. Cleveland is an Atlanta, Georgia-based physician, board certified in nephrology and internal medicine. Cleveland practices as a nephrologist and is medical director of Emory Healthcare Network in Atlanta. He also is a professor with Morehouse School of Medicine, on the Morehouse School of Medicine Board of Directors, and is treasurer/chief financial officer for the Georgia State Medical Association.
  • Dennis Heinrichs, president and chief executive officer of LifeLink Foundation, has been named chairman of the board.
  • Jean Aiken Davis, executive vice president and chief operating officer of LifeLink Foundation, has been named vice chair.

Open house for internist
A ribbon cutting and community open house for Florida Hospital Zephyrhills’ board-certified internist Migdalia Merida took place at her office, East Pasco Primary Care, 37740 Meridian Ave., in Dade City. On hand for the festivities were Randy Surber, the hospital’s CEO; hospital staff, Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce representatives, and guests. Merida has practiced medicine for 20 years in Tampa, and is accepting new patients ages 18 and older. For information, call (352) 437-5970.
