The East Pasco Family YMCA, 37301 Chapel Hill Loop in Zephyrhills, will host a free Healthy Kids Day on April 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be active games, snacks and crafts to motivate and teach families how to develop healthy routines at home. For information, call (813) 780-9622.

‘The Secret Garden’

The Live Oak Theatre Company will present a musical adaptation of “The Secret Garden” April 29 through May 7, at Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 200 Mount Fair Ave., in Brooksville. Each show will be a dessert theater experience. Admission is $18 for adults, and $5 for students 13 and younger, with the purchase of an adult ticket. 04/27/2016 – Food truck frenzy

Rosecastle of Zephyrhills Assisted Living and Memory Care, 37411 Eiland Blvd., will host a “Food Truck Frenzy” on April 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There also will be local vendors offering farm fresh produce and a selection of homemade goods for purchase, and door prizes. 04/25/2016 – Candidate forum

The Republican Club of Central Pasco will host a candidate forum for the Republican candidates for District 5 on April 25 at Copperstone Executive Suites, 3632 Land O’ Lakes Blvd., in Land O’ Lakes. The candidates are Thomas A. Celotto, Chris Cooley and Jack Mariano. Native plant garden tour

The Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will host its first Native Gardens Tour in Pasco County on April 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants can visit seven sites, including a business, residences and a wildflower nursey, along State Road 54. 04/23/2016 – Sewing for dolls

The Land O’ Lakes Library, 2818 Collier Parkway, will offer a basic sewing class on doll dresses on April 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., for ages 9 and older. Participants can learn how to make a dress for an 18-inch doll. A signed liability waiver is required. To register, call (813) 929-1214.

04/23/2016 – Scavenger hunt fundraiser

The Alzheimer’s Association will host a “Scavenger Hunt for the Cure” fundraiser on April 23 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., starting at Bad Monkey, 1717 E. Seventh Ave., in Ybor City. Participants can discover Ybor landmarks while having happy hour drink specials and play interactive games at participating establishments. There also will be a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. The cost is $20 per scorecard for teams of two to six people. Each registered participant will get a free Cigar City beer. 04/23/2016 – Family movie & popcorn

The Hugh Embry Library, 14215 Fourth St., in Dade City, will host a free family movie and popcorn on April 23 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., for kids ages 12 and younger. The 2015 movie is an adventure about a caveboy and a dinosaur. For information, call (352) 567-3576.

04/23/2016 – Jungle Book screening

Studio Movie Grill at the University Mall, 12332 University Mall Court in Tampa, will host a screening of the new movie “The Jungle Book” for children with special needs and siblings, on April 23 at 11 a.m. The film will be shown with lights up and sound lowered for those sensitive to stimuli. Children will be permitted to move around and talk during the movie. The event is feree for special needs children and siblings, but everyone else pays a $6 matinee ticket price. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Upcoming movies include “Ratchett and Clank” and “The Angry Birds Movie.” For information, call (813) 241-3800.

04/22/2016 – Smart driver course

The AARP Smart Driver class for drivers age 50 and older will be offered at the Land O’ Lakes Library, 2818 Collier Parkway, on April 22. Most automobile insurance companies offer a discount for completing the class, with a certificate valid for three years. The cost is $15 for AARP members, and $20 for non-members.
