The Maternity Suites at Oak Hill Hospital, 11307 Cortez Blvd., in Spring Hill, will offer a childbirth preparation program for expectant parents on April 19 and April 20 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The class is held over two days, followed by a personalized tour. Pasco students haul in STEM awards
Pasco Regional Science and Engineering Fair students won a number of awards at the 61st Annual State STEM Fair in Lakeland.
More than 900 Florida students competed in the fair. Students qualified based on judge recommendation, scores, and research quality at the regional fairs. The Pasco Regional Science and Engineering Fair included Pasco County traditional public, charter and private school students.
Out of the district’s 24 state participants, 14 placed or earned awards provided by regional fairs and event sponsors.
Pasco students were recognized in these state categories:
- Mathematics and Computational Sciences: Pranav Warman, Academy at the Lakes, first place

Kimberly Cicanese receives DAISY award

Florida Hospital Zephyrhills presented registered nurse Kimberly Cicanese with the most recent DAISY Award for excellence in nursing. Cicanese joined the hospital in 2012 and works in surgical services, and was nominated by a patient. Cicanese received a certificate and a sculpture called ‘A Healer’s Touch,’ the design of which originates from the Shona Tribe in Africa.
Diabetes seminar
The Health & Wellness Center at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel, 2700 Healing Way, will present “Dog Days of Diabetes” on April 19 at noon. Lung cancer tutorial
Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point will host a Tuesday Tutorial on lung cancer on April 19 at the Rao Musunuru MD Conference Center, 14100 Yosemite Drive in Hudson.
Dr. Joseph Sennabaum, board certified in hematology, medical oncology and internal medicine, will make the presentation. Registration and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the tutorial.

Suicide seminar
The Medical Center of Trinity, 9330 State Road 54, will host a seminar entitled “Suicidal Thoughts: Helping a Friend” on April 20 at noon. Doug Webster, of the medical center’s Behavioral Health Services, will discuss who is at risk; the impact on family, community and future generations; 10 false beliefs about suicide; and what you need to know to save a life.
