01/09/2016 – Raising Cane & Pancake Breakfast
The Pioneer Florida Museum & Village, 15602 Pioneer Museum Road in Dade City, will host its annual “Raising Cane & Pancake Breakfast” Jan. 9 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a syrup tasting contest and cane grinding, sugar cane pole toss, greased pole climb, iron skillet toss, log sawing, recipe contest, and a kids’ zone. The breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and costs $3 per serving. Fried chicken and fixings will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and costs $5. Family Resources’ “Celebrity Karaoke” will be on Jan. 22 at TPepin Hospitality Centre in Tampa. There will be a VIP reception at 6 p.m., followed by the main event from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The fundraiser will include local entertainment, pool and casino games, karaoke, a silent live auction, and more. Proceeds will support Family Resources’ programs serving homeless and runaway youth, and families in crisis. The cost of tickets before Jan. 5 is $75, and $100 thereafter. Sponsorships are available. Christmas tree recycling
Pasco County asks that you recycle your live Christmas trees to help the environment.
Drop-off locations will accept Christmas trees from Dec. 26 through Jan. 8. The trees will be chipped and made into mulch for landscaping.
Locations include:

- Wesley Chapel District Park, 7727 Boyette Road (north end at Overpass Road)
- John S. Burks Memorial Park, 1322 Gene Nelson Blvd., Dade City

All tinsel, metal hooks and decorations should be removed.
