The Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation of Florida was recognized as the Nonprofit Organization of the Year by Communication Access Inc., for its exceptional customer service and accessibility for people with hearing loss.
Every year, CAI presents 10 awards to regional organizations and individuals that have made an impact on providing necessary services to individuals with hearing loss.

The Oakdale Christmas House light display, 2719 Oakdale St., S., in St. Petersburg, will run from Nov. 27 through Jan. 3, 2016, nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The display is a half-acre covered with 250,000 lights. There are walkways with animated dolls and animals, water fountains, a computerized music light show, a small pond, a nearly three-story high snowman, a scale model railroad with 18 trains, an airport with moving planes and a working carnival, as well as a double bubble machine. The 22nd annual Flapjack 5K Race in memory of Coach Kris Keppel will take place Dec. 13 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Land O’ Lakes Recreation Complex, 3032 Collier Parkway.
