Pasco County Utilities will host a recycling event for household hazardous waste and electronics Oct. 24 from 8 a.m. to noon at the West Pasco Government Center, 7530 Little Road in New Port Richey. The event is free to Pasco County residents, but there is a $5 charge for each television, computer monitor, computer tower and laptop computer. There also is a $10 charge for TVs that exceed 36 inches. The Hillsborough River State Park Preservation Society will host its 23rd annual “Haunted Woods” event Oct. 23 and Oct. 24 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the park at 15402 U.S. 301 in Thonotosassa. There will be a haunted trail, coloring contest, and a costume contest both nights. There also will be a family tram ride on Oct. 24.
