The 49th San Antonio Rattlesnake Festival will be Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., in San Antonio. There will be country and folk music, food trucks, a beer garden, educational and environmental exhibits, a snake show, wooden gopher tortoise races, arts and crafts, and more. Races include a 5-mile run and a 1-mile run for walkers, families, kids and dogs. The entry fee for both races is $25, and $5 for children who are younger than 10 and accompany an adult. The Veterans Council of Hillsborough County will have a Field of Honor Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, 3602 U.S. 301 N in Tampa, on Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. The event will honor service members in the Army Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard who have lost their lives during the past three months while engaged in Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
