LIGHTNING CORN MAZE
Harvestmoon Farm, 15990 Stur St., in Masaryktown, has unveiled a Lightning-themed corn maze. The five-acre corn maze will be open Saturdays and Sundays, October through November, weather permitting, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests can play games such as Maizeopoly and use cellphones on selected signs for directional help. A smaller maze will be based on the book “Spookley the Square Pumpkin,” about an anti-bullying pumpkin. There also will be a 70-foot jumping pillow, pumpkin patch, petting farm, corn box, cow train and barnyard playground. There will be food vendors on site. Tickets are $11.95 for ages 3 and older. StudioTwenty8 at The Shops at Wiregrass will host a Hip-Hop Workshop with Sean Green Oct. 17 at noon and 3 p.m., to bring awareness to the anti-bullying organization Free2Luv. Green has owned Sean’s Dance Factory for 11 years and was part of the FAMU Strikers All Starz. He is the current choreographer for the Miami Heat Dancers. The cost for the workshop is $30 per person.
On Oct. 18 at 1 p.m., the studio will host a dance competition at The Shops of Wiregrass amphitheater. Auditions will be Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. The cost to audition is $10. Green will judge the competition

Florida on upswing
Twelve of Florida’s metropolitan areas grew at a faster rate than the rest of the nation in 2014 in terms of gross domestic product, according to a news release from Gov. Rick Scott’s office.
Based on growth in domestic product, the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater area, which includes Pasco County, grew by 2.7 percent, compared to the previous year.
The fastest-growing area in the state was the Naples-Immokalee-Marco Island metropolitan area, which had a 5.6 percent increase.
Jacksonville had a 2.9 percent increase.
Florida had the largest real GDP in the nation in 2014 at nearly $770 billion, up 2.7 percent, the release said.

Copperstone Executive Suites is collaborating with Lane Business Consulting to offer a yearlong intensive program called “The Business Mastery Academy.” Each month, the program includes two on-site workshops, one telephone conference call, and a one-on-one coaching session for each participant.
