10/11/2015 and 10/14/2015 – CULTURAL CENTER KIDS’ PROGRAMS

The Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road in Tampa, will host these upcoming kids’ programs:

  • Oct. 11 at 2 p.m., “Mr. Tommy’s Very Un-Scary Halloween Special”
  • Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., “Bananimagination” with Shana Banana

10/11/2015 – SEW DRESSES FOR AFRICA

The Sisterhood at Congregation Kol Ami will participate in the sewing program “Little Dresses for Africa” on Oct. 11 at 10 a.m., in the boardroom. Volunteers should bring a portable sewing machine if they have one. Also needed are fabric or pillowcases, thread, trimmings, ¼-inch elastic and bias tape, scissors, pins, iron and ironing board. SENIOR MEAL PROGRAM

St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church of Zephyrhills, 5855 16th St., hosts the Pasco County Senior Meal Program every weekday, except holidays. Any Pasco County resident age 60 and older can meet in the parish hall for a hot lunch at 11:30 a.m. There also are card games, bingo and socializing. 10/11/2015 – CUT-A-THON FOR BREAST CANCER

ULTA Salon at The Grove, 5953 Wesley Grove Blvd., in Wesley Chapel, will host its annual cut-a-thon Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., to raise money for breast cancer research. For a $10 minimum donation, guests can choose from a haircut, a single pink hair extension, or a microzone skin service. Services are performed on a first-come, first-served basis. The University of South Florida’s Botanical Gardens, 12210 USF Pine Drive in Tampa, will host a “Fall Plant Festival” Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be more than 50 vendors, a scarecrow display, children’s activities, and a vegetable gardening workshop. There will be a “Country Jam” at the Pasco County Fairgrounds, 36722 State Road 52 in Dade City, from Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. to midnight. There also will be vendors and food. Zephyrhills Fire Rescue, 38410 Sixth Ave., will host an open house on Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., to celebrate the rededication of Fire Station No. 2. Guests can learn about fire prevention and life safety, meet firefighters and paramedics, volunteers and cadets, tour the fire station and see the fire trucks. There will be an auto extrication demonstration, and free hot dogs and popcorn while supplies last. For information, call (813) 780-0041.

Water Works Park, 1710 N. Highland Ave., in Tampa, will host free Halloween-theme, family friendly movies.

  • Oct. 10: “Hotel Transylvania”
  • Oct. 17: “The Goonies”
  • Oct. 24: “Frankenweenie”

Seating starts at 6 p.m., followed by the movie at 7:30 p.m. Guests can bring picnic baskets and coolers, blankets, low-back lawn chairs, and well-behaved, leashed dogs. Alcohol will not be allowed. 10/09/2015 to 10/11/2015 – STREET ROD NATIONALS

The Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 U.S. 301 N., in Tampa, will host the 28th annual NSRA Southeast Street Rod Nationals Oct. 9 to Oct. 11. There will be activities for kids, adult games, an arts and crafts show, model car display, vintage automobile swap meet, and a nondenominational church service. Hours are Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $6 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children younger than 5. Senior citizens older than 60, military personnel, UPS employees and NRSA members can get a $2 discount with identification. For information, visit NSRA-USA.com.
