DIABETES SEMINAR

CANCER AWARENESS TUTORIAL

Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point will have a Tuesday Tutorial called “Cancer: Everything You Need to Know” on Oct. 6 at the Rao Musunuru MD Conference Center, 14100 Yosemite Drive in Hudson. Registration and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the tutorial at noon. For information and reservations, call (727) 869-5498.

CHRONIC PAIN PROGRAM

Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point will host the Chronic Pain Self-Management Program developed by Stanford University. The program is designed for people who have a primary or secondary diagnosis of chronic pain such as neck, shoulder and back pain, fibromyalgia, whiplash injuries, repetitive strain injury, pelvic pain, post-surgical pain and others. Topics covered will include techniques to deal with problems of frustration, fatigue, isolation and poor sleep, as well as exercises, use of medications, nutrition and more. Classes are two-hours, once a week for six weeks, starting Oct. 7 through Nov. 11. For information and reservations, call (727) 869-5498.

STRESS REDUCTION GROUP

Florida Cancer Affiliates, 3611 Little Road in Trinity, will host a stress reduction support group meeting Oct. 7 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The group is free and open to anyone who feels overwhelmed at times, is struggling to find a balance in life, or wants to have a place to freely express feelings with those going through similar experiences. Stress can be related to school or work, or can be relationship stress, caregiver stress, illness or health stress, parenting or family stress, or financial stress. For information, call (727) 808-4818.

NEUROPATHY SUPPORT

CARE Tampa Bay hosts a monthly support group for people with peripheral neuropathy on the first Wednesday of each month. Meetings are in the USF Morsani Center, Room 1013A-B, at the College of Nursing at the University of South Florida, 13330 Laurel Drive in Tampa. The next meeting is Oct. 7. 10/10/2015 – SCARECROW FESTIVAL

The Pioneer Florida Museum & Village, 15602 Pioneer Museum Road in Dade City, will host a Scarecrow Festival on Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a pumpkin patch, games, face painting, train rides, a petting zoo, bounce house, giant slide, obstacle course and a touch-a-truck area. For $3, kids can dress their own scarecrow and take it home. Clothes and hay will be provided. Guests can also dress as a scarecrow for a costume contest. No coolers or pets, except service animals. 10/10/2015 – FALL FAMILY FESTIVAL

Saint Leo University, 33701 State Road 52 in St. Leo, will host a “Fall Family Festival” on Oct. 10. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be activity booths, an animal show and petting zoo, water races, slides, water spheres and more, and lunch will be available for $12. From noon to 2 p.m., there will be a tour of the classrooms. For information, email Eddie Kenny at . At 2 p.m., there will be a volleyball game, and a men’s soccer game at 7 p.m. The day will finish with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Admission for the fall festival is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and free for children 12 and younger. The Lutz Branch Library, 101 W. Lutz Lake Fern Road, will host a Star Wars Day on Oct. 10 at 4 p.m., for all ages. There will be Star Wars games and crafts. The program is limited to 30 participants.
