WINE TEACH & TASTE

Time for Wine will present a Teach & Taste event on France: Discovering Rhone Valley on April 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at 5462 56th Commerce Park Blvd., in Tampa. The program features wines from the region paired with small plates, along with a travel presentation by Trail Winds Travel. The cost is $15 per person. SCHOLARSHIP DINNER

There will be a pasta dinner fundraiser for the Sean Bartell Memorial Scholarship Fund at Atonement Lutheran Church, 29671 State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel, April 18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 10, and free for children younger than 5. SWAP & SHOP

The GFWC Lutz-Land O’ Lakes Woman’s Club will host a Swap & Shop April 14 at 6 p.m., at the Lutz Community Center, at the corner of Lutz Lake Fern Road and U.S. 41. Guests should bring a minimum of three nice, new or nearly new items of artwork, home décor, jewelry, handbags, accessories and such, to display and swap. No clothing or shoes will be accepted. There will be numerous rounds of swapping. The cost is $10. Light refreshments, finger foods and beverages will be provided. QUARTER AUCTION FOR SAMARITAN PROJECT

The Zephyrhills Woman’s Club will host a Quarter Auction featuring Park Lane jewelry to benefit The Samaritan Project April 12 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at 38549 Fifth Ave., in Zephyrhills. TASTE OF PASCO

Leadership Pasco will present its annual fundraiser Taste of Pasco April 11 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Rotary Events Pavilion, 15325 Alric Pottberg Road in Shady Hills. The event includes food samples, a Kid Zone with slides, bounce houses, laser tag and face painting, and musical entertainment. All proceeds will benefit The Salvation Army Domestic Violence Shelter, Metropolitan Ministries’ Miracles in Pasco’s Supported Housing Project and Student Survival. Tickets are $25 in advance, or $30 the day of the event. Children younger than 12 are free. Tickets can be purchased at TasteOfPasco.eventbrite.com.

BASH AT THE RANCH

The Pasco-Hernando State College Foundation will host its annual Bash at the Ranch April 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., to celebrate the successes of PHSC and the retirement of president Katherine Johnson. PHSC campus open houses
Pasco-Hernando State College will host open houses at each of its five campuses in April.

Guests can take campus tours and get information on admissions, financial aid, scholarships and more than 50 clubs and organizations.

Upcoming dates are:

  • April 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the East Campus in Dade City, 36727 Blanton Road
  • April 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Spring Hill Campus, 450 Beverly Court
  • April 28 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch, 2727 Mansfield Blvd., in Wesley Chapel
  • April 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the West Campus in New Port Richey, 10230 Ridge Road

John Long Middle School carnival
The 8th annual John Long Middle School Round-Up Carnival will be April 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., on school grounds at 2025 Mansfield Blvd., in Wesley Chapel.

There will be games, prizes, rides and attractions, an inflatable obstacle course, human hamster ball, laser tag, 4-D video game van and more.

Armbands and tickets go on sale the week of April 6 in the school cafeteria during student lunches.

Woman’s club scholarship opportunities
The GFWC Lutz-Land O’ Lakes Woman’s Club is accepting applications for its 2015 scholarships. In addition to the club scholarships, a limited number of the Lutz Volunteer Firemen’s scholarships are available and administered through the club.

Applicants for the club’s scholarships must live in Lutz or Land O’ Lakes.

Applicants for the firemen’s scholarships must be residents of Lutz.

The applications are available at Lutz and Land O’ Lakes high schools, Erwin Technical Center, Pasco-Hernando Community College and Hillsborough Community College.

For those students who do not attend these schools, but live in Lutz or Land O’ Lakes, applications can be requested by emailing Barbara Nicholson at .

Completed applications must be received by April 15.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by June, and funds will be sent to the college or school of choice in September.

Sean Bartell Memorial Scholarship
Applications are being accepted for the Sean Bartell Memorial Scholarship, awarded to a Wesley Chapel High School senior.

The student must complete an online or paper application by April 28.

The scholarship is in memory of Sean Bartell, a Wesley Chapel High School junior who passed away from a rare skin disease in December 2014.

Tax-deductible donations to the scholarship fund can be mailed to Atonement Lutheran Church, c/o Sean Bartell Scholarship, 29617 State Road 54, Wesley Chapel FL 33545.

STRESS REDUCTION SUPPORT

Florida Cancer Affiliates will host a stress reduction support group April 8 at 6 p.m., at the Trinity center, 3611 Little Road. The group is open to anyone who feels overwhelmed or struggles to find balance in their life. Stress can be work or school related, relationship stress, caregiver stress, illness or health stress, parenting or family stress, or financial stress. For information, call (727) 808-4818.

HEART HEALTHY NUTRITION CLASS

The Heart Institute at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, 14000 Fivay Road in Hudson, will offer a free heart healthy nutrition class April 7 at 1 p.m. Those attending can learn eating habits to help prevent and treat heart disease. Topics will include types of fat and cholesterol, food label reading, recipe modification and food shopping. KNEE ARTHRITIS SEMINAR

The Health & Wellness Center at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel, 2700 Healing Way, will host a free seminar on surgical and nonsurgical treatment options for knee arthritis April 7 at noon. Dr. Brian Palumbo, orthopedic surgeon, will discuss the cause of arthritis, knee pain, joint replacement surgery options, recovery and rehabilitation. A free lunch will be provided.
