NUTRITION AND DIABETES

The Medical Center of Trinity, 9330 State Road 54, will offer a class on nutrition and diabetes March 24 at 10 a.m. The class will cover the basic principles of nutrition, how food affects blood glucose, understanding meal timing, carbohydrates, proteins and fats, and how to make better food choices.

TOOLS TO QUIT

The Medical Center of Trinity, 9330 State Road 54, will offer a free Tools to Quit seminar for tobacco users March 20 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Participants can set a quit date, make a plan, and work through steps to quit. Optional free nicotine replacement therapy, such as patches, lozenges or gum, will be provided. The program is sponsored by the Florida Department of Health.

BREAST CANCER SUPPORT

Florida Cancer Affiliates will host breast cancer support groups on the first and third Thursday of each month at its Trinity center, 3611 Little Road. The next meeting is March 19 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

LYMPHEDEMA SUPPORT GROUP

The Medical Center of Trinity, 9330 State Road 54, will offer a lymphedema support group March 19 at 3 p.m. Lymphedema is a persistent swelling, usually affecting an arm or leg that sometimes occurs as a side effect of cancer treatment.

SENIOR HEALTH FAIR

Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel will host a free Senior Health Fair March 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Quail Hollow Golf and Country Club, 6225 Old Pasco Road in Wesley Chapel. The fair is free and open to senior citizens ages 55 and older. There will be health screenings, nutrition and pain management assessments, and information on heart health, nutrition, women’s health, joint health, hearing and stroke awareness. Pharmacists will be available to answer questions about drug interactions and side effects, and Medicare. Guests must preregister for the event.

SMART DRIVER CLASS

The Land O’ Lakes Library, 2818 Collier Parkway, will host the AARP Smart Driver class March 26 for drivers ages 50 and older. The cost for AARP members is $15, and $20 for non-members. LATIN-THEMED FILM SCREENINGS

Suncoast Credit Union Gasparilla International Film Festival will screen ten Latin-themed films March 25 to March 28 at Channelside Cinemas. ‘KIDS AND ALCOHOL’

LiveFree!, a nonprofit coalition in Pinellas County, is hosting the 11th annual Florida’s Kids and Alcohol Town Meeting March 25 at 5 p.m., at The Digitorium on the St. Petersburg College Seminole campus. The meeting will include an in-depth discussion with youth, parents, teachers and officials on the dangers and harmful effects of alcohol. Admission is free. BETMAR SPRING CONCERT
