Input sought on Sunset/U.S. 41 improvements

July 27, 2021 By Special to The Laker/Lutz News

Hillsborough County wants to hear the public’s thoughts on a proposed improvement at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Sunset Lane, in Lutz.

The county is conducting a two-week public comment period, through a virtual engagement process, according to a county news release.

The feedback runs until Aug. 2.

The proposed improvements at U.S. 41 and Sunset Lane would add a turn lane and updated traffic signals.

The $1.6 million project is expected to begin in the summer of 2022 and be complete in the summer of 2023.

The project also calls for pedestrian and bicycle safety enhancements, including sidewalks that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, otherwise known as ADA.

Residents and commercial property owners can review the proposed changes and are invited to give feedback.

To learn more and share your thoughts, visit HCFLGov.net/HCEngage at any time through Aug. 2.

Since improvements were done within the last 10 years, why would the county waste the tax payers money on this three roadway intersection? This is not a comparison to Florida Ave. or Nebraska Ave. and Bearss.Ave.

The roadway west of Hwy. 41 leads to a housing development that is gated. It has the No Outlet sign, however drivers evidently do not know what that means. They think Crystal Grove Dr. leads to Dale Mabry. This so called improvement will encourage this behavior.
All that is necessary is, TIME THE TRAFFIC LIGHT correctly to move the vehicles accordingly.

County Line Road is the future hot mess, with Publix being build at County Line Road and Livingston, Spend the dollars where it is needed.

The meeting with the Hearing Master was held in Ybor City, not Lutz where the residents could not attend in person to voice their concerns. It appears this was done intentionally. Some do not have Zoom and those who do, the sign up was poorly posted.

Although it is disputed, this is an improvement for the 7-11 that will invade our peaceful community with 16 gas bays that will contribute to urban sprall, night pollution, climate change (Yale University) and more very degrading impacts.

Say NO, NO, NO to this invasion..
