Saint Leo senior Amanda Jakobsson was named the Sunshine State Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, following her first-ever individual championship at the 2017 University of North Carolina-Pembroke “Battle at Old South,” Sept. 23 and Sept. 24.
Jakobsson fired a 72 in the first round and followed up with a 68 in the final round. The 68 tied for Jakobsson’s second-lowest collegiate round, and tied for sixth-lowest round in program history. The individual title at the “Battle at Old South” was the second time in three seasons that Jakobsson has won a tournament on that course, and the third tournament title of her collegiate career.
Saint Leo women’s golf will be back on the links Oct. 9, and Oct. 10, competing in the Nova Southeastern GolfRank Invitational at the PGA National Golf Club, in Palm Beach Gardens.
