Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, 6600 Madison St., in New Port Richey, will offer these community health seminars:

  • April 13: “Your Wishes Matter” at 10 a.m. Jacqueline Weller, registered nurse and ethics coordinator, will discuss how to plan for your health care future with advance directives such as living wills, surrogate selection, proxy laws and more.
  • April 13: “Weight Loss Surgery” at 5:30 p.m. This is an information session on taking the first step to weight loss surgery, and its various options.

04/13/2016 – Licensing on wheels

Florida Licensing on Wheels will be at the New Tampa Regional Library, 10001 Cross Creek Blvd., on April 13 at 10 a.m. The services available include first-time licenses, conversion of out-of-state licenses, renewals, replacements for lost or stolen licenses, address/name changes, ID cards, reinstatements, emergency contact information registrations, vehicle registration renewals, and disabled parking placard issuance and renewals. 04/12/2016 – Driver safety class

The AARP Driver Safety Class will be offered on April 12 at 9 a.m., at Winter Quarters Pasco RV Resort, 21632 State Road 54 in Lutz. The cost is $15 for AARP members, and $20 for non-members. To register, call (813) 949-6551.

04/12/2016 – Tips to close up your home

The UF-IFAS Extension Office will present a seminar on April 12 at 1 p.m., at the Hudson Regional Library, 8012 Library Road, on “Closing Your Seasonal Home.” Participants can learn tips on leaving your home for extended periods, and the steps to prepare your home inside and out, prevent mold and mildew, organize important papers, and how to keep your home safe from disasters. Preregistration is not required.

04/11/2016 – Federal employees meeting

All federal retirees and active federal employees can attend the meeting of NARFE Chapters 583 and 1588 on April 11 at the Golden Corral Restaurant, 8928 U.S. 19 in Port Richey. There will be a buffet lunch at noon, followed by the meeting at 1 p.m. The guest speaker will be Brian McNeill on home safety. Spouses and guests are invited. For information, call (727) 845-5545

04/10/2016 – Top Golf fundraiser

The GFWC New Tampa Junior Woman’s Club will host its 19th annual charity auction and fundraiser on April 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Topgolf Tampa, 10690 Palm River Road. The theme is “Tee It Up for Charity.” Tickets are $75 per person and include a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, buffet dinner and three hours of golf play. 04/10/2016 – Jazz concert fundraiser

James Wall, a student at Steinbrenner High School, will host a benefit concert to collect food for a local food pantry, as a Boy Scout Eagle project. The traditional jazz music concert will be on April 10 at 4 p.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church, 14920 Hutchison Road in Tampa. Musicians include Chuck Berlin, a pianist who has played in New Orleans for nearly 40 years, and John Lamb, a former bassist with the Duke Ellington Jazz Orchestra. 04/09/2016 – Sewing Basics 101

The Land O’ Lakes Library, 2818 Collier Parkway, will offer “Sewing Basics 101” on April 9 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., for ages 9 and older. Participants can become familiar with a sewing machine, its parts, and how they are used. There will be hands-on practice to thread needles, and sewing lines and curves. 04/09/2016 – Kiwanis Club fish fry

The Dade City Kiwanis Club will host the “Roy Hardy Fish Fry” on April 9 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Pioneer Florida Museum & Village, 15602 Pioneer Museum Road in Dade City.  There will be musical entertainment from 2 p.m. through 8 p.m., and dinners will be served from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Takeout will be available. No coolers, food, beverages or pets (except service animals) will be allowed. Guests should bring lawn chairs. Tickets are $10 and will benefit the Thomas Promise Foundation and the museum. 04/09/2016 – Chalk Art festival

The 2016 Chalk Art Festival in downtown New Port Richey will take place April 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., between Grand Boulevard and Adams Street, in the area called Railroad Square. The event is open to artists and the public. Spaces can be reserved for $10. Proceeds from the festival benefit the Pasco Mental Health Foundation.
