LAND O’ LAKES – Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School will host the Black Flag XC Meet Oct. 24, the second cross-country meet ever held at the school.
This season marks a milestone for the school as Bishop will host two regular-season cross-country meets and its first district championship race.
The Black Flag XC Meet gets its name from Bishop McLaughlin Athletics’ Hurricane Black Flag identity, while the Halloween theme will add an extra element of fun and school spirit to the event.
About 20 schools and 200 student-athletes are expected to compete. In addition to racing, participating teams will take part in a tent-decorating competition.
The meet will also feature Senior Morning, a special tradition celebrating Bishop McLaughlin’s graduating cross-country seniors. The morning will recognize the contributions and accomplishments of Bishop’s seniors while also shining a spotlight on graduating seniors from the visiting teams.
The Black Flag XC Meet will be the final regular-season competition before the FHSAA Class 1A Region 2, District 3 postseason. The event provides an opportunity to showcase Bishop McLaughlin and the surrounding community to visiting athletes, coaches and families while creating increased activity for local businesses.
Bishop McLaughlin will make school history on Nov. 2, when it hosts the FHSAA Class 1A Region 2, District 3 championship for the first time.
