Avalon Park Wesley Chapel is Bringing Enjoyable Entertainment For All

August 30, 2022 By Kelli Carmack

As we head into the final months of the year, Avalon Park Wesley Chapel — a premier master-planned community in Pasco County — has tons of fun events in the works for the local community.

From family movie nights, a spooktacular Halloween event, community yard sale and so much more, check out what’s coming to Avalon Park Wesley Chapel this Fall and Winter.

Jazz Under The Starz
Championing the arts and providing a venue for local artists to showcase their skills has always been a core goal of Avalon Park Wesley Chapel.

Jazz Under The Starz has been hosting monthly concerts at Avalon Park’s downtown area.

During this event (which is held the third Saturday of every month), guests can enjoy live music, art and poetry, and check out different vendors and food trucks.

The next Jazz Under The Starz takes place on Sept. 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The featured performer is TFox and The Crew. Tickets are $20 per person, which can be purchased at JazzUnderTheStarz.com. Kids ages 12 and under are free, and pets are allowed as long as they aren’t aggressive and the owners are cleaning up after their furry friends. Concert guests also can bring lawn chairs and coolers.

Movie Nights
One of Avalon Park Wesley Chapel’s most popular events is its monthly movie night.

This fun-for-all-ages event gives families and loved ones a chance to watch a hit movie under the beautiful stars. All movies start at dark.

Here is the movie line-up for the remainder of the year:

  • Sept. 9: “Luca” — Disney and Pixar’s “Luca” is a coming-of-age story about a young boy and his adventures with a newfound best friend, Alberto. Set in the beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, all Luca and Alberto’s summer fun is threatened by their deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface.
  • Oct. 14: “Zootopia” & “Hocus Pocus” — Avalon Park Wesley Chapel will have a Disney double-feature as they play Walt Disney’s “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure set in a city of anthropomorphic animals; and Disney’s “Hocus Pocus,” a classic Halloween movie about a trio of diabolical witches.
  • Nov. 11: “Brave” — Disney and Pixar’s “Brave” is about Princess Merida determined to carve her own path in life, which results in chaos to her kingdom. She must use her bravery and archery skills to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.
  • Dec. 9: “The Grinch” — The 2018 animated version of the classic Christmas tale, The Grinch plots to ruin Christmas for the village of Whoville.

Community Yard Sale
Avalon Park Wesley Chapel’s fall community yard sale will take place this year in October. The exact date is still to be determined, but if interested in participating, you can contact Marielle Fernandez at or 813-783-1515.

Spooktacular
On Oct. 22, Avalon Park Wesley Chapel will host its annual Spooktacular event, a spooky fun-filled Halloween Celebration! Festivities will include trick-or-treating prizes, a haunted house, food trucks, vendors and more. Come out to play, and be sure to bring your best costume. The event, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., is free and open to the public.

Avalon Aglow
Join Avalon Park Wesley Chapel for its annual fun-filled holiday celebration, Avalon Aglow. The festivities kick off on Dec. 10 starting at 5 p.m. There will be pictures with Santa, REAL snow, vendors, live music, and a complimentary bounce park, followed by a spectacular fireworks show. This event is free and open to the public.

Vendors Wanted!
With all of its festivities coming up, Avalon Park Wesley Chapel is looking to add more vendors and performers to its list. If interested, contact Marielle Fernandez at or 813-783-1515.

Avalon Park Wesley Chapel Breaks Ground on Downtown Area

July 26, 2022 By Special to The Laker/Lutz News

Do you dream of living where you work and working where you play? Look no further than Avalon Park Wesley Chapel!

Avalon Park Wesley Chapel hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on July 14, to celebrate the start of construction on the first phase of its highly anticipated downtown area.

This well-attended event comes from a June 2 press release where Avalon Park Group announced they entered into an agreement with Lema Construction. According to the agreement, the three-story, 73,067-square-foot mixed-use building plans to include 40 multi-family apartments and 23,720 square feet of commercial/retail space on the ground floor. Initial plans for the commercial/retail space include an approximately 12,000-square-foot food hall called The Marketplace at Avalon Park, as well as a co-working space, The 5th Floor.

(Courtesy of OurTownFla.com)

“This phase of construction really helps us move even closer to that vision of building a place where families can build memories and traditions together in a town they can call their own,” says Beat Kahli, president and CEO, Avalon Park Group.

“And while this may not be the most cost-effective time to begin construction, we feel like it is important to continue on to the next step in developing our vision for Avalon Park Wesley Chapel.”

Additionally, a 2-acre community park with an amphitheater is in permitting and will begin construction later this year. The park will host community events such as Avalon Aglow and Fourth of July celebrations, as well as community partners like Jazz Under the Starz and The Wesley Chapel Theater Group, who are already hosting events and activities in the community. Construction of both the park and mixed-use building are scheduled for completion in late 2023.

Upon completion, Avalon Park Wesley Chapel will encompass more than 1,800 acres and will host approximately 400,000 square feet of retail and 100,000 square feet of office space in its downtown. The initial construction in Downtown Avalon Park Wesley Chapel began in 2019 with the addition of the Pinecrest Academy K-7 Charter School. Pinecrest also is now under construction of its second phase, which includes the addition of approximately 600 sixth- to eighth-grade student stations.

The Vision of Downtown Avalon Park Wesley Chapel
“We are creating a town very much like the footprints of small towns found across America,” says Stephanie Lerret, senior vice president of marketing for Avalon Park Group.

“Downtown Avalon Park Wesley Chapel will bring conveniences like dining, shopping, schools, grocery stores, and your neighborhood doctor all within a short walk or bike ride from your home,” says Lerret.

At Downtown Avalon Park, there will be room for everyone — from entrepreneurs wanting to showcase their businesses in storefronts, local marketplaces where chefs can serve and musicians play, schools for children to learn, medical centers where neighbors can receive exceptional care, and even a general store where artisans can share their wares. All of it will lie along the sidewalks of Avalon Park Wesley Chapel’s picturesque town.

This way of living stems from Kahli’s upbringing in Switzerland.

“In my native hometown, Zurich, I could walk from my home to anything I need in my daily life… work, school, grocery stores, restaurants, etc.,” says Kahli.

Kahli’s hometown culture was the blueprint for Avalon Park Wesley Chapel, where his vision is to create a town where residents from all stages of life could live, learn, work and play.

July 26, 2022 By Special to The Laker/Lutz News

Older adults in central and east Pasco County are discovering the charming manufactured home community of Club Wildwood in Hudson, which boasts affordable homes, first-class amenities and a five-minute drive to the beach.

Club Wildwood is the largest retirement community in north Pasco County, with close to 500 homes. Living in a large community means there is always someone to share things with, including swimming in the resort-style heated pool, taking your pup to the friendly dog park, enjoying crafts and potluck dinners at the clubhouse, and even fishing in a well-stocked lake. Residents are friendly, and welcome newcomers to the community’s many clubs and activities.

There are several resale homes available in Club Wildwood, very affordably priced from $48,500 to $69,900. Most resale homes in the community have been updated with the latest designs and flooring, and are a tremendous value for a single-family home in terms of cost, amenities and location.

For folks moving from Land O’ Lakes, Lutz and Wesley Chapel, living at Club Wildwood costs less than renting an apartment. The community’s monthly lot rental fee is less than $700, and includes trash, landscaping and full use of all recreation facilities.

Club Wildwood’s location on U.S. 19 gives residents quick access to major roadways, shopping and dining, and area attractions. In addition to its Olympic-size heated pool, amenities include a picnic area, shuffleboard courts, a bocce ball court and horseshoe pits. A spacious clubhouse has recently been remodeled, and boasts a fully equipped kitchen and large meeting room, small library, pool tables, fitness room and card tables.

Regular activities include bingo, karaoke, potluck dinners, coffee hours, dart tournaments, happy hours, pancake breakfasts, line dancing and bridge games. During the social distancing requirements of COVID-19, some of these activities have been suspended, but all will be back when it is safe to gather together again.

Outside of the park, many Club Wildwood residents participate in special interest clubs, including bowling and golf leagues, the Red Hat Society, and volunteering at nearby Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.

The 290-bed hospital, which is less than 10 minutes from Club Wildwood, is the only Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center in Pasco County, and its renowned Heart Institute provides comprehensive cardiac care and an open-heart surgery program.

ICI Homes Continues to Sell and Expand in Today’s Market

June 28, 2022 By Special to The Laker/Lutz News

ICI Homes, one of Florida’s best-known and prestigious homebuilders, is continuing to sell and expand, as a large number of buyers from different markets across the country are still trying to move to Pasco County.

“Out-of-state buyers from east to west coast are attracted to Pasco County because of its highly desirable master-planned communities, excellent schools and superior road network,” says Greg Jones, Tampa division manager for ICI Homes.

For ICI Homes, Pasco is the hub of its Tampa Bay operations. Its team is dedicated to helping families find beautiful lots and select from a variety of floor plans in some of Pasco’s most prestigious communities — Asturia in Odessa, Bexley in Land O’Lakes, Persimmon Park in Wesley Chapel, and Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City.

Move-in Ready Homes are Available at Lake Jovita
Move-in showcase inventory homes are currently under construction and will be ready by the end of this year in Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club, for customers who are looking to settle down in Dade City for that short, 20-minute drive to Wesley Chapel and the old-fashioned charm of downtown Dade City.

Some of the inventory homes that will be offered in Lake Jovita include the Charlotte, Costa Mesa and Egret. According to Jones, all three floor plans are some of the most popular floor plans throughout the state of Florida.

The Charlotte, Costa Mesa and Egret range from just over 2,000 to 3,000 square feet and are all offering large indoor and outdoor living areas along with oversized bedrooms. Each floor plan is positioned on premium homesites throughout the community and are well appointed with the latest design features.

Phase Two of Persimmon Park is Opening Soon
The land development team is working hard on phase two, which is almost completed. ICI Homes will be starting to offer a VIP interest list this July.

“With the continued high demand for the Wesley Chapel area, we are excited to have finished phase one of Persimmon Park and are looking forward to starting phase two,” says Jones.

Located in Wesley Chapel by The Shops at Wiregrass, all Persimmon Park homes have open floor plans with front porches, and garages and alleys at the back of the home. Its amenity center includes a unique T-shaped luxury pool, with cabanas and a grilling area.

The Primrose is Persimmon Park’s most popular floor plan. This two-story plan features nearly 2,500 square feet of living space, with a master bedroom suite on the main level, along with one guest bedroom and bathroom. The spacious living area is connected to a beautiful kitchen and dining area, with plenty of room for family and friends to gather. The second story includes two additional bedrooms, a full bath, and a bonus room that is perfect for gaming, entertaining, family time or guest privacy.

Connerton is Almost Sold Out
As for Connerton, Jones says the demand is equally as high and warns that the community is almost completely sold out.

“Connerton, Pasco County’s largest, master-planned, mixed-use community is located in Land O’ Lakes and is one of the developments that many people are interested in,” says Jones.

Only four homesites currently are available at Connerton, but a recent showcase home in the community will be ready by the end of the year for potential buyers.

A popular gated community within Connerton, Rose Pointe, offers a clubhouse with a full-time activities director, fitness center, gym, large resort-style pool and more. This small, gated community is one of the many features that makes Connerton stand out to potential homebuyers.

Another gem in the Rose Pointe community is the Connerton Nature Preserve, which features a scenic 2-mile trail that winds through natural wilderness, lakes and wetlands. The trail’s 10-foot-wide sidewalks allow for easy biking and walking through Connerton’s picturesque landscape.

A New Phase is Coming to Bexley
ICI Homes is excited to be back in Bexley and offering a wide range of floor plans. A VIP interest list will be offered to potential buyers this July.

Bexley, a planned community that embraces Land O’Lakes natural settings, has thousands of acres of preserved wetlands, miles of recreational trails and a great location off State Road 52 and the Suncoast Parkway.

ICI Homes model homes are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m., on Sunday. The Persimmon Park model is at 3793 Lajuana Blvd., Wesley Chapel; the Lake Jovita Sales Center is at 12330 Lake Jovita Blvd., in Dade City; and the Asturia model is at 2112 Secret Cove in Odessa. To schedule a VIP appointment, call 844-349-6401, or email Jones at .

Cornerstone Counters Local Price Increases

June 28, 2022 By Special to The Laker/Lutz News

Cornerstone Pros in Land O’ Lakes is always keeping a sharp eye on how it can benefit its customers by saving money, especially now, in the current economic climate. The answer for this summer: rebates.

Different from a coupon, rebates allow buyers to get money back for the purchase. They come from the utility company and/or manufacturer. Once your rebate application has been processed and closed, you should see a check or credit in the mail if it wasn’t already applied at the time of purchase.

“If you’re looking to update your water heater or gas furnace, we recommend you take advantage of rebates, and act now while utility companies and manufacturers are offering them,” said Miguel Silva of Cornerstone Pros.

Price increases are happening everywhere, and Cornerstone Pros has done its best to keep its prices as low as possible and is continuing to try to make its services affordable for homeowners. They also want customers to be aware of any deals that can save them money in the long run.

Right now, utility companies, like TECO, are offering rebates for Tank Water Heating, ENERGY STAR Tank Water Heating, Tankless Water Heating, and Gas Furnaces.

“Unfortunately, water heaters age and eventually will start to fail. Some warning signs include corrosion buildup on pipe fittings, water leaks, hot water that doesn’t last long enough or hot water that is MIA,” said Silva. “We always recommend regular maintenance and planning ahead when it comes to taking care of your home. This will save you money, and allow you to budget for future repairs.”

Cornerstone Pros recommends going tankless. While the rebate is offered for tankless systems, it’s best to take advantage of it. Tankless water heating not only gets rid of that enormous tank, but it also carries a longer warranty than the average water heater.

“Tankless water heaters heat up on-demand for 99% operational efficiency,” adds Silva.

This guarantees that customers don’t have to pay to maintain the heat; they will only need to pay when they use the hot water. Tankless isn’t instant hot water, but it does warrant endless hot water throughout someone’s home.

“Tankless heaters were engineered with safety in mind; their designs incorporate numerous user-friendly features along with technologies like dry-fire defense, freeze protection, smart-grid capabilities and leak detection that prevent product failure,” said Silva.

There are plenty more rebates to take advantage of this summer. Manufacturers also are offering rebates to customers who are looking to update their appliances. Right now, you can receive $1,000 off of the Daikin Fit System and $500 off the Daikin 20 Seer System.

For information on different rebate offers and how you can qualify, head over to the TECO website, www.peoplesgas.com/residential/saveenergy/rebates/, or call Cornerstone Pros at 813-995-7558, and visit their website, CornerstonePros.com.

“This phase of construction really helps us move even closer to that vision of building a place where families can build memories and traditions together in a town they can call their own,” says Beat Kahli, CEO of Avalon Park Group. “And while this may not be the most cost-effective time to begin construction, we feel like it is important to continue on to the next step in developing our vision for Avalon Park Wesley Chapel.”

Construction of both the park and mixed-use building is scheduled for completion in late 2023.

“We have been working with Pasco County over the past several years to develop a program that will be a win-win for the entire Wesley Chapel community,” Kahli says. “Community partnerships are vital to our mission to change the way the world lives, learns, works and plays, by creating a place where everyone can feel like they belong.”

Upon completion, Avalon Park Wesley Chapel will encompass more than 1,800 acres and will host approximately 400,000 square feet of retail and 100,000 square feet of office space in its downtown. The initial construction in Downtown Avalon Park Wesley Chapel began in 2018 with the addition of the Pinecrest Academy K-7 Charter School. ‘Bad Water Quality is Costing You Money’ says Cornerstone Pros

June 14, 2022 By Special to The Laker/Lutz News

Your tap water may not be as clean as it looks. If your house has a hard water system, odds are it’s filled with impurities, including microbes, lead, fluoride, disinfectants and other toxins.

The answer? Water softeners. Home piping extends far beyond just the sink. It’s our dishwashers, showers and washing machines. Hard water has minerals that can corrode all of these appliances over time. Water softeners relieve this by getting rid of those minerals and extending their shelf life.

“Addressing your home’s water quality problems is a must-do; everything takes water,” said Miguel Silva of Cornerstone Pros Air Conditioning, Plumbing and Electrical in Land O’ Lakes. Miguel has been in the business for years and has seen firsthand the improvement that water softeners have brought to families.

The benefits of saving money with soft water extend even further. Over time, you’ll spend less on products such as soaps and detergents. Soft water creates more suds and a quicker lather by not being exposed to compounds.

Softer skin and hair is an added bonus and can help you save money on personal care products like conditioner and hair masks.

“The quality of your water can have a direct effect on your health,” said Silva. “Don’t save it for a rainy day. When you choose us, we can help you achieve the right-as-rain H2O you deserve.”

Cornerstone Pros also offers bundles with their AC units. You can get a water treatment or a tankless water heater and an AC unit at a discounted rate.

Tankless water heating gets rid of that large tank in your garage or closet, saving you space. Going tankless also saves you money by lowering your energy bill, since you’re no longer paying for hot water 24 hours a day, only when you need it. With today’s technology, you can download apps that monitor your hot water consumption and manually turn the heater on and off, all from the convenience of your phone.

“Tankless heaters were engineered with safety in mind; their designs incorporate numerous user-friendly features along with technologies like dry-fire defense, freeze protection, smart-grid capabilities and leak detection that prevent product failure,” said James Reese, plumbing service manager at Cornerstone Pros.

For more information on how you can start saving space and money in your home, visit CornerstonePros.com, or call 813-909-0345.

Avalon Park Wesley Chapel Aims to Provide A Sense of Belonging

May 24, 2022 By Special to The Laker/Lutz News

For Mental Health Awareness Month, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is focusing on the message: “Together for Mental Health.”

Avalon Park Wesley Chapel, a premier master-planned community in Pasco County, supports this message everyday by providing a welcoming community for its residents that supports the creation of meaningful relationships with their neighbors.

“Feeling accepted and welcomed by being a part of a community is where a sense of belonging begins,” says Beat Kahli, president of Avalon Park Group.

Beat Kahli, president and CEO of Avalon Park Group

“A strong social network is one of those things that may not seem important but can make a big difference when life gets hectic. When you know your neighbors, they often become friends that you can relax with and check in on you, in good and challenging times,” Kahli said.

With Avalon Park Wesley Chapel hosting routine events such as its “Movie Under the Stars,” quarterly festivals for the family (the next one is its July 4th festival), and monthly live jazz events, there are so many ways to stay in touch, face-to-face, with your neighbors.

Physical exercise also is another way to maintain good mental health, as it can provide focus, improve self-esteem, and help reduce anxiety and depression.

From taking a swim at Avalon Park Wesley Chapel’s community swimming pool, shooting hoops at the basketball courts, riding a bike through the trails, or playing with your dog at the community dog park, Avalon Park offers a wide range of ways to stay physically active.

Kahli’s wife, Jill, holds a Ph.D. in Psychology, so Kahli definitely understands the importance of mental health.

Kahli says he and his team continue to look for ways to improve the mental health opportunities for their community by adding programming that will create positive outlets for all needs. He recognizes that not everyone shares/responds to the same type of outlet to help with their mental health.

“This is why we are building Avalon Park to be programmed to provide outlets for all,” says Kahli. “From yoga in the park, youth sports, music and dance performances, art classes, local ministries and more, there will be something for everyone.”

One outlet that the residential community supports is local theater, which is a great way to practice expressing yourself and your emotions.

The residential community has partnered with The Wesley Chapel Theater Group, a group that provides theater for adults. Avalon Park Wesley Chapel allows the theater group to use its welcome center as its temporary home for all of the group’s meetings and rehearsals. The group’s artist director, Rodney Bueno, also is a resident of Avalon Park Wesley Chapel for the past five years.

“It’s definitely nice to bring something that I love to the community I live in,” says Bueno.

Kahli also believes giving back through community services helps with positive mental health.

“There are countless opportunities to give back and help in the community,” says Kahli. “I encourage you to look around to the local schools, nonprofits and service organizations to see where you can help the most.”

Avalon Park Wesley Chapel helps support local nonprofit and service organizations by bringing awareness to them through its monthly advertorial, Avalon Applauds, with The Laker/Lutz News. Featured nonprofits from the past include the Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel, The Stano Foundation (an organization dedicated to supporting troops of all branches, both active duty and veterans), and Hope Services (a service organization that seeks to find jobs for people living with disabilities).

(If you know a nonprofit that deserves to be in the spotlight, email your suggestion to ).

Another way Avalon Park supports the message of “Together for Mental Health” is through the community-based nonprofit, ProjecThinkForward. According to its website, ProjecThinkForward is committed to promoting optimal health and wellness by changing the stigma surrounding mental health and connecting those in need with the right resources.

The nonprofit also has a podcast on Spotify called ThinkForward Podcast, where its executive director sits down with therapists to discuss various mental health conditions.

By coming together, the Avalon Park Wesley Chapel community can help all of its members feel a sense of place and belonging, and support a culture of strong mental health through the multiple resources it provides.

The Demand for ICI Homes Continues to Soar in Pasco County

April 26, 2022 By Special to The Laker/Lutz News

There’s still a large number of buyers from different markets across the country trying to move to Pasco County.

“We’re continuing to see an overwhelming amount of interest from the East to West coasts,” says Greg Jones, Tampa division manager for ICI Homes.

Because of the high demand, ICI Homes is offering limited releases on a monthly basis in Lake Jovita.

The Primrose is Persimmon Park’s most popular floor plan.

“We are seeing a lot of growth in Dade City. Families love the short, 20-minute drive to Wesley Chapel and the old-fashioned charm of downtown Dade City,” says Jones.

The Arden floor plan is just one home in Lake Jovita that is being offered to potential buyers.

The Arden is a 2,402-square-foot, 4 bed/3 bath, one-story home that is designed for entertaining and Florida living. The foyer leads to a large living room centrally located for maximum convenience. A spacious gourmet kitchen and dining area are perfect for entertaining guests or spending quality time with the family. Views from the dining room look out on the covered lanai and large backyard.

“My favorite part about the Arden is the open living area, along with the master suite and bathroom,” says Jones.

The master suite features a luxurious bath and a large double-entry walk-in closet. The home is designed so that children and guests can enjoy their own separate spaces. It also includes a 3-car garage.

Only four homesites are currently available at Connerton, but a recent showcase home in the community will be ready by the end of the year for potential buyers.

Phase Two of Persimmon Park Is Moving Ahead of Schedule
The land development team is working hard on phase two, and Jones is excited for the recent progress.

“With the continued high demand for the Wesley Chapel area, we are excited to have finished phase one of Persimmon Park and are looking forward to starting phase two hopefully this summer,” says Jones.

The spacious living area is connected to a beautiful kitchen and dining area with plenty of room for family and friends to gather. The second story includes two additional bedrooms, a full bath, and a bonus room that is perfect for gaming, entertaining, family time or guest privacy.

ICI Homes model homes are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m., on Sunday. The Persimmon Park model is at 3793 Lajuana Blvd., Wesley Chapel; and the Lake Jovita Sales Center is at 12330 Lake Jovita Blvd., in Dade City.
