The Historic Hernando Preservation Society and the Hernando Historical Museum Association will celebrate Hernando County’s 173rd birthday with a “Heritage Day Historic Home/Museum Tour” on Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting at the 1885 Train Depot grounds.
Guests will tour the 1911 Colonial Revival Dawson House, the 1885 home of Somer and John Stuhar, and the 1900s Colonel Edrington House. The museum tours will include the May Stringer House, the Countryman One Room School House, and the 1885 Train Depot. Tours will be offered throughout the day.
There will be a festival with vendors, a silent auction, and re-enactors, as well as a cake cutting at noon. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Barking Dogs Old Time Jamp Group of San Antonio, Dixie Blue, and the Sassafrass Bluegrass Band.
The festival is free, but the homes/museums tour is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children younger than 6.
