Ecology Florida and Friendship Farms & Fare will host The Florida Loquat Festival on March 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Frances Avenue Park, 6156 Louisiana Ave., in New Port Richey. There will be presentations on the cultivation of loquat trees, how to eat its fruit, how to can it, and cook it. The UF/IFAS Extension Office will present a rainwater harvesting workshop on March 26 at 10 a.m., at the Old Lutz School, 18819 U.S. 41. Participants can learn how rain barrels are useful for collecting rainwater for irrigation, while reducing erosion and storm water runoff.
