09/26/2023 – Faculty recitals

The Saint Leo University music faculty will present a program of music written by living composers, including two faculty members, Alex Ehredt and Mauricio Rodriguez. One of the compositions also features the poetry of Dr. Anne Barngrover, associate professor of English and director of the Graduate Creative Writing Program. Concerts will be held:

09/24/2023 – Family Fun Day

B&B Theatres Wesley Chapel will host a pre-release party and a free Family Fun Day on Sept. 24 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Guests can put their “paws” on a Touch-a-Truck event, to explore trucks from Pasco County Fire Rescue, Pasco Sheriff’s Office, Florida Forestry Department, and more. The first 60 guests will receive a Paw Patrol mask. Snag your tickets, too, to the Paw Patrol movie that arrives Sept. 29.

Libraries Rededicated

Pasco County Libraries will rededicate two area libraries with a ceremony, ribbon-cutting, formal rededication, and light refreshments:

  • Sept. 21 at 10 a.m.: Hugh Embry Library, 14215 Fourth St., Dade City
  • Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.: Land O’ Lakes Library, 2818 Collier Parkway, Land O’ Lakes

Commemorative Bricks

The Old Lutz School, 18819 U.S. 41 in Lutz, has partnered with a new engraving company for its commemorative bricks. The school is now taking new orders and also will be replacing some of the current bricks that need updated engraving. To purchase a brick, visit BricksRUs.com/donorsite/oldlutzschool.

Theater sing-alongs

The Tampa Theatre, 711 N. Franklin St., in downtown Tampa, will host these September Sing-alongs on Sundays at 3 p.m.:

  • Sept. 3 — “The Greatest Showman” (2017)
  • Sept. 10 — “The Little Mermaid” (1989)
  • Sept. 17 — “Jesus Christ Superstar” 1973 (50th anniversary screening with special guest Ted Neeley)
  • Sept. 23 — “The Sound of Music” (1965)

Costumes are encouraged. Tickets are $11.50 for theater members and $14.50 for non-members. For information, visit TampaTheatre.org.

Neighborhood Bike Drive

Recycle your bicycle and support the community by donating bikes to the nonprofit Wellbuilt Bike Shop at 12256 University Mall Court in Tampa. Wellbuilt’s mission is to create access to affordable, reliable transportation. Bikes will be accepted until Dec. 23. If you are unable to transport the donation to the bike shop, contact Land O’ Lakes High IB student Ananth Kutuva at 813-701-7870 or . Flag recycling

Lutz-Land O’ Lakes American Legion Post 108 has partnered with Pasco Fire Rescue to collect unserviceable American flags, to honorably dispose of them. Raymond Williams, vice commander of Post 108, encourages residents to drop the flags off at any of the 28 Fire Rescue stations in Pasco County.
